A grooming comb with two different tooth spacings, one on each side.
The wide side works through the coat first and finds the tangles; the fine side goes over the same area afterwards and lifts out loose undercoat and anything the wide teeth missed. Using them in that order is what stops grooming turning into a fight.
- Work in small sections, following the direction the coat lies
- Never drag through a mat — hold the fur above it so you are not pulling on skin
- A few minutes several times a week beats one long session
